We need to see more and more companies take up this responsibility of helping women stay engaged with their professional lives. A lot of the large companies already do this in their offices abroad, but it’s not yet caught on in a big way here. Once thing I have noted in recent years is the emergence of organisations that are specifically focused on helping people with second careers, part-time engagements, etc.
It is estimated that in 10 years, 1 in 2 Americans will not be working for a single employer, and will instead be earning through a basket of working engagements. That phenomenon is spreading to other places too. It could be because of market forces, or personal choices, but clearly if the market is moving in that direction, it would be useful to build a degree of preparedness for it.
